Whether the graphics card requires 3x8pin or the motherboard CPU requires 2x8pin, it can be normally compatible.

Also backward compatible with graphics card 8+6pin / CPU 8+4pin and other situations

EPS 8pin can be used for CPU power ports 4 pin; 

PCI-E 8pin can be used for graphics card power port 6 pin;

Then the unused part (the other half 4pin/2pin) can be hidden behind the case, which is also neat and clean.
