Thermal Grizzly Kryonaut 12.5 W/mK Thermal Paste, Non-Conductive Carbon-Based Compound for CPU/GPU, 1g or 5.5g

TL;DR: Kryonaut is a carbon-based, non-curing thermal paste with a rated thermal conductivity of 12.5 W/mK and density 3.7 g/cm3. Common Applications

Kryonaut is a carbon-based, non-curing thermal paste with a rated thermal conductivity of 12.5 W/mK and density 3.7 g/cm3. The compound is non-electrically-conductive and non-capacitive, so contact with surrounding SMDs will not cause short circuits during application. Operating range is stated as -200 C to +350 C, which makes the paste suitable for ambient air cooling, custom water loops and sub-ambient cooling alike. Best applied to a clean, lapped or stock IHS with a small pea-sized drop spread by mounting pressure. A 1g tube covers roughly one CPU or GPU repaste; the 5.5g tube is intended for repeat use, bench work or large IHS surfaces.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Is Kryonaut electrically conductive?

A: No. The paste is non-electrically-conductive and non-capacitive. Contact with capacitors or pads on the PCB will not cause a short circuit.

Q: What is the operating temperature range?

A: Manufacturer specs -200 C to +350 C, covering ambient air, custom water cooling, dry ice and LN2 sub-ambient setups.

Q: Which size should I buy?

A: 1g for one CPU or GPU repaste. 5.5g for multiple builds, bench work or large IHS surfaces such as Threadripper or server CPUs.

Q: How should it be applied?

A: To a clean IHS or die: a small pea-sized drop in the center, then let mounting pressure spread it. Avoid pre-spreading with a card - voids and bubbles reduce performance.

Q: How is it different from liquid metal?

A: Liquid metal achieves higher conductivity but is electrically conductive, reacts with aluminum, and can pump out under heavy thermal cycling. Kryonaut is a safer general-purpose paste that does not require delidding or special precautions.
