How to Build a Water Cooling System

You've decided that you want to build a water cooling system, but have no idea where to begin. But don't worry, because there are cheap water blocks out there to help you get off on the right foot. Read on for a couple of pointers to getting started.

The first thing you'll need is a gallon or two of water. Don't use water from your kitchen faucet. Instead, get up to the fifth of one gallon from the well itself.

It's the most important element of your system, so it needs to be clean and pure. Also make sure that the faucet is lined with stainless steel and don't use copper to line the pipes. Copper can rust and cause all kinds of problems.

Next, there's chlorine, which is sometimes added to water for purification. There's no need for it, but some municipalities require it. For best results, find a water filter that has no chlorine in it. Otherwise, the filtration system will not work as well.

Once the water is clean, it's time to get down to brass fittings and a power filter. You need to make sure that the holes in the plumbing are large enough for your power filter to go through. Also, don't skimp on copper water hoses and wires; these are the building blocks for the system. With water running, you need to make sure that the connections aren't weak.

And, finally, you need to add a power filter to get rid of any left over solids. A cheap water block can do this for you if you need a little extra strength. For the best results, make sure that you install the filter in the spot where you need it. If you mess up, you'll have to replace it.

So there you have it. Building a water cooling system isn't hard to do, but it does take some research and lots of trial and error to get things right. Having the right information at your fingertips can make the difference between frustration and success.
